Elder Bruce Mackey is a man defined by faith, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the empowerment of his community. Describing himself as a humble, blessed, and highly favored man of God, Elder Mackey has dedicated his life to the service of others—whether in the classroom, on the football field, or from the pulpit.
Early Life and Foundations
Born and raised in Troup County (West Point, Georgia), Elder Mackey’s foundation was built on strong family roots. He is the son of Carolyn and
Larry Bailey. He credits much of his character and spiritual upbringing to his late grandmother, Christine Mackey, who played a primary role in his life.
Academic and Athletic Excellence
Elder Mackey is a proud alumnus of The Fort Valley State University, where he was a standout athlete and captain for the Wildcats football team during the late 1980s. His time at FVSU sparked a lifelong passion for both
education and leadership. He holds an impressive academic portfolio, including:
- Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education (Minor in Biology) – Fort Valley State University
- Master of Education in Health Sciences – Georgia Southwestern State University
- Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership – College and State University
A Legacy of Service and Leadership
After a distinguished 32-year career in public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator, Elder Mackey retired in 2023. However, his commitment to public service did not end there. Only five months into retirement, he chose to reinvent himself and currently serves as the Executive Director for the Peach
County Parks & Recreation Department.
In addition to his professional career, he is a dedicated member and current Basileus of the Pi Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Fort Valley, GA, where he continues to uphold the fraternity’s cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift.
Spiritual Ministry
As a Servant Leader, Elder Mackey’s most profound impact is felt through his ministry. He serves as the Senior Pastor at Greater Faith Babies Ministries Church of God by Faith Inc. in Fort Valley, Georgia. Known as a visionary leader, his mission is centered on encouraging and empowering God’s people while fostering life-long partnerships within the community.
Personal Life
Elder Mackey resides in Kathleen, Georgia, with his college sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Katrice Mackey. Together, they have built a beautiful family, including three children: Bruce Jr. (Dominique), Bryce (Jade), and Kaila. They are also the proud owners of their French Bulldog, Maci. Elder Mackey is a devoted grandfather to one grandson, Brixton and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter, in May 2026.
